Reduce food waste

United States Environmental Protection agency outlines, when food is wasted, the land, water, energy, and other inputs that are used in producing, processing, transporting, preparing, storing, and disposing the food are wasted as well. Hence, preventing food waste is the simplest and impactful action you can do to lower your carbon footprint as well as saving your money.

Ditch plastics

Plastic pollutes, and it takes them hundreds to thousands of years to decompose in landfill. If we continue to use plastic at a current rate, plastic in landfills will go into our rivers and oceans, and outweigh all the fish in the sea by 2050. Swap plastic bags to canvas bags, bottle to glass jars and reuse as much as you can. Start living eco friendly by taking baby steps; breakdown your larger goal into smaller elements and achieve them one by one. Go you!

Use eco friendly cleaners

You’ll limit the number of dangerous chemicals you release into the environment. You’ll also find that these products will most likely use eco friendly or carbon neutral packaging to help the environment even further. They also tend to make use of sustainable and ethical production goods. Wanna do even better? Check out Creative Explained to get home maintenance tips using all natural products.

Improve energy efficiency at home

Emissions from our homes represent around a quarter of the average carbon footprint. There are many ways to cut back on energy you use in your home; unplug appliances when you don't use them, hang your laundry to dry instead of using a tumble dryer and lower down your home temperature by 1°C less. Sometimes tricks to transitioning to a carbon neutral life are literally as easy as a click of the button.

Plant a tree

Trees filter the water we drink, help clean the air we breathe, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. Planting trees is one of the simplest ways to reduce your carbon footprint and live greener. Not only do they convert Co2 to Oxygen, they are the ultimate carbon capture and storage machines. On top of this, trees block winds and help provide insulation in the winter. And in the summer, they help keep your home cool.
